When it's easy to lose faith II

Yesterday, and for personal reasons, I was down on my spirits. It's hard when things come crumbling down after your trust and your feelings get trampled over. Because you're strong, because you're always smiling and positive about life, people think you just get over quickly and nothing hurts you. Well, that's wrong, it's a big lie. The strong hurt.
Today, I can't help thinking how my personal grievances are nothing compared to what the great souls of this World go through in life.
We all knew Benazir Bhutto would be killed one day. It was just a matter of when. It was today! And I can't believe it! I was punched in the stomach when I heard the news. I paralysed, I mean, I had to stop my brain from thinking for a second so that I could take in the news: they killed Bhutto, they actually killed her in a blood bath! Today they killed a part of all of us that believe in Man and a better world. They silenced a Voice. And how easy it was to silence it!
I still remember Sérgio Vieira de Mello. I had such great hopes in and for him. I knew he would one day be UN's Secretary-General. I trusted him. He had an aura of goodwill around him. I was in Turkey when I heard he had been killed in Iraq. It took me days to believe the news. It was such a shock. In the back of my mind I also thought that he could be killed one day. But not that day.
Bhutto's and Mello's days came.
They came unnanounced, but they were expected. Still, we all hoped that things could and would not be as predictable as they turned out to be. In moments like these it's easy to lose faith, it's easy to fall into temptation and believe that hope is lost. Only the strong will now believe that faith must endure, faith must resist against despair.
Only the strong will go on hoping...

It's strange, but I have tears in my eyes... I found out about her death right now, reading your post. I can only thin of a song that begins like this:"I can't believe the news today/ I wanna close my eyes and make it go away..." (U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday)...
But I can only say one thing: we knew these deaths would happen, but they won´t kill their voices. Their message will last and the strong will make it happen!

A senhora Benazir Bhutto merece-me o maior respeito pela coragem e abnegação demonstrada.

This comes to shows those "long bearbed" clowns are more dangerous than most people think.
And that they are in the will to do what it takes to mark their reasons (I guess they have none, but they don´t agree with me). Western countries and societies should really care about this threat. I'm not one of those who thinks everything that is islamic is bad, but these clowns mean business and serious troubles. And we have them indoors already.

As for Mrs. Benazir Bhutto I can only say she was a women with what it takes. Need I say more?
And I don´t trust that Musharaf chap...

Quem armou o assassino?

Dear Carol,
It's the pain of knowing that these killings actually happened that is so hard to bear. Yes, I think yesterday was a "Bloody Thursday".

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear Blue,
I liked your euphemisms! But I don't think a "bombinha" would be enough! A bomb, a real one, would do the trick. And yes, we're talking about stupid, bloody bastards! (Pardon my French!)

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear António,
Both Benazir and Sérgio Vieira de Mello are not consensual characters. Even Ghandi had shadows of suspicion hanging over his head. The fact is that SVM was there in Timor when things were really complicated. He just did his job.
As for Benazir, I think we're poorer in the World today.

Blondewithaphd disse...

Liebchen Joshua,
"Schweigen"?!

Quinn,
Aren't you a sweet chap calling those monsters, sons of guns clowns! You can use your nasty vocabulary full blast and still you'd be sweet to those freaks, perverts!
Benazir was a true WoMan! That I agree!

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear Peter,
So true your words! We're talking about an ideology that is contrary to everything we believe and fight for in the Western, democratic world. They will go on killing everyone that raises a voice for peace and individual freedom. And right now I fear what might happen in Pakhistan, precisely because they are a nuclear power!

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear Tiago,
Quite right! No words are enough to express what happened, to express the horror of this death!

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear Tiagugrilu,
The world and us all are so much poorer today...

We all know that the UN is not a perfect organization, but until something new comes up, it is still the best we have. As for SVM, he has his detractors just as much as he has his supporters. I'm not apt to judge a herculean task that I certainly would not be able to do.

Blondewithaphd disse...

My dear Indy,
I'm out of my breath!
You certainly made all your points! When the news came that she was dead, the spokesman said precisely that she was now a martyr, and at this very moment, crowds in Pakhistan are crying out loud that the daughter of Pakhistan shines forever!

Blondewithaphd disse...

Dear Antonio de Almeida,
The problem is that Pakhistan is a regional ally of the USA. And, as always, it needs the USA against India. Europe there is an irrelevant player. The only way I see the EU there is through the interference of the UK, which, also as always, leaves us in a fragile position.
(Just by the way, wow!, this time you sure used some strong language, not your usual cordial, diplomatic style!)

Hi, blondie!
I came here to wish you a HAppy New Year.
I know you're feeling down, but I hope 2008 is a better year and that it may bring you joy and happiness.
Hugs and kisses, my friend. I'll see you next year.

Blondewithaphd disse...

Thanks Carol! Have a great 2008 you too! The best possible new year!
